Sunshine!! Finally we have been blessed in the UK with sunny spring weather and although its not quite time to start shedding the layers its definitely time to start lightening up.

Here is one of my casual spring time looks, featuring my go-to Ted Baker classic beige mac and my new Nicholas Kirkwood pointed flats.

I’m so excited about the weather getting warmer because it means I can wear these Nicholas Kirkwood silk printed flats that I picked up in the Net-A-Porter sale after drooling over them last summer. Aren’t they beautiful!

What is key to spring style is light layers, so I have layered a vibrant ribbed Topshop jumper over a muted grey Zoe Karssen t-shirt, with customised ripped jeans and finishing off with a classic light beige belted mac from Ted Baker. I added my Paul Costelloe pink over the shoulder bag (similar here) to add a pop of colour to clash with my Topshop knit (similar here), it is spring after all, time to say goodbye to #allblackeverything.

WWYF – Wear What You Feel – New Fashion Label

357e20d4-dd5d-4d9b-bc41-12ed5ff3c07d_large

Over the last few weeks I have been using my height advantage to do a spot of modelling for my friend On, for his new fashion label WWYF.

On launched his label WWYF, pronounced ‘wife’ and which stands for Wear What You Feel, back in December 2014 on ASOS Marketplace, with a menswear collection followed swiftly by the womenswear that launched in January this year.

The brand’s ethos is mirrored in the name ‘Wear What You Feel’ and is all about wearing clothes that are fun and feel right to you regardless of what everyone else is doing or wearing, WWYF is very much about dressing for yourself and having fun with it.

And working with On has definitely been fun! The clothes are laid back but carry a sense of playfulness and joy in dressing to please yourself.

The collection ranges from minimalist sportswear, including sky blue baseball jackets and luxe sweatshirts to Harajuku babe with a 90’s normcore twist – think pastel coloured maxi pleats and edgy lace midi skirts.

Here are some of my favourite pieces from the women’s collection:

Winter Fashion Haul

We are well into winter now, but it is one of my favourite seasons. Mostly because I get to wear snugly knitwear and tights and boots, there is something about a skirt in winter that appeals to me more than in any other season.

So I’ve made another haul video to show you the little things I’ve been stocking up my wardrobe with for Winter. Maple, my puppy also as some items to show you towards the end. Check it out and if you like it please give me a thumbs up and leave a comment, I’d love to hear what you think as this whole vlogging platform is still very new to me so I’m still learning how it all works.

Thanks and Merry Christmas x

Cruelty Free Beauty and Autumn Fashion Haul – Very First Video Blog!!!

I have a little addiction to fashion and beauty video blogs on YouTube and have been following several beauty, fashion and lifestyle bloggers for several months now. I especially enjoy listening to them talk about products they have purchased as it gives me an idea of what the product is like before I buy it, its like having a personal beauty advisor at the tips of your fingers!

So I finally decided to make my own beauty and fashion vlog on my own favourites and share it with the world. Eeek!!
I must admit making a video is a lot harder than it looks, but after I was happy with the light, sound and background surroundings I sat down and started to talk about the cruelty free beauty favourites I have been buying and some Autumn fashion buys.

I feel quite strongly about using beauty products that have not been tested on animals and through my research I came across this website called LoveLula.com , which is an online beauty retailer that is dedicated to selling products that have not been tested on animals, and contain the highest percentage of ethically sourced, organic ingredients. I didn’t talk about this website enough in the video but it is amazing! I bought the bareMinerals blusher from them and delivery was free and it arrived the next day!

I’m also excited about the fact that it is now Autumn! I’m a winter baby so I love the winter, just for the fact that you can wrap up in jumpers, tights and woolly scarves.

I talk about my Autumn fashion purchases from New Look, ASOS and F&F but here I am showing you how I like to wear them now autumn is officially here;

Laid back Boyfriend jeans

door way

As you may know I live in my jeans, specifically skinny jeans – the skinnier the better, but I’ve been crushing on boyfriend jeans (or should they be husband jeans if you are married? ) and I recently bought these ripped up slouchy boyfriend jeans.

I’ve been wearing them mostly with Nike Air Max trainers and t-shirts – keeping it simple but I love how they can be dressed up here with a silk white lace top and some pointed flats.

I live in South East London where these beautiful old warehouses used to be used during the war for ammunition production, and have been restored and converted into flats.

I just love the architecture of the warehouses and how each one holds a piece of our history.

Maple also enjoyed her little exploration of the warehouses, even if it was a little windy that day….

How to Wear: Yellow Pleated Skirt

So I have been rearranging my wardrobe recently, doing a bit of a spring reshuffle and some colour coordinating. My wardrobe looks so organised!

While I was re-organising I re-discovered my lemon yellow pleated midi skirt from Oasis that I bought over a year ago but I have never worn. I really wanted to keep the skirt but its not as easy to throw on like a pair of jeans are, so I thought I’d have a root around my wardrobe and come up with some different ways to make the skirt more wearable.

Floaty pleated skirts are all over the place right now and they just feel so pretty and summery so I really want to get this beauty out into the daylight.

For a similar yellow pleated skirt try this sporty pleat midi from Topshop or this yellow circle jersey  skirt from Cos.

LOOK 1 – Grunge/Casual  One of the reasons that I haven’t worn this skirt is that it seems like effort and its such a pretty skirt and I can be a little anti – pretty most of the time.

Yellow skirt grunge

Oasis Skirt, Luella t-shirt, vintage belt, RayBan sunglasses, ASOS chelsea boots, Born in Canada cuff

This Grunge style look is effortless, I don’t like wearing heels as I’m already tall enough and why put my feet through this. So I’m either in my trainers or flat black boots. The white Luella bat-man print tee is fun and quirky and takes away the formality of wearing a full pleated skirt. I could easily wear this as a casual day time look – completed with a leather jacket of course.

For a similar look I love these slogan print tees:

LOOK 2 – Sport Luxe I really like the idea of wearing skirts with trainers, its the Tom-boy within me always looking to get my feet into trainers. So as a result I am a little obsessed with trainer wedges/heels. Call them what you like, they look cool and are easy-peasy to walk in – remember I don’t like heels. Wedges are a different category though so its ok. I’m not really the type for crop tops, and this is in fact a folded up t-shirt, but I thought it was a fun way to pair a simple white tee with the skirt and it works.

yellow crop top

Splendid T-shirt rolled up, Necklace from eBay. Orange watch Michael Kors and Ash silver trainer wedges.

If you, like me, are less likely to wear a cropped t-shirt anywhere other than your balcony then you could pair a sporty style t-shirt similar to the Primark quilted faux leather tee below:

For a similar look try these tees:

Look 3 – Date Night Black  I’m really looking forward to wearing this skirt in the evening as I think would be more fun to wear colour in the evening especially as the weather is getting warmer. So I have teamed it with three different black lace or sheer shirts I have for a more sophisticated look – one includes heels (well wedges)

black top

L-R Vintage Lace shirt with Office peep toe wedges, Topshop lace peplum shirt with ASOS Ladybug flats and Primark sheer shirt with ASOS belt and shoes as before

I really like the vintage lace shirt from Look one and because it was so lacey I felt that it should be teamed with some wedge booties which I got a while ago from Office.

The Topshop lace peplum top in Look two adds to the shape of the skirt with the peplum spilling over the top of the skirt to add extra volume. I think the ASOS flats look pretty cute with this skirt too.

black top close up I added a belt around the peplum of the top to cinch it in at the waist and teamed my cobalt blue clutch with it for a colour pop.

The Primark sheer blouse in Look three is a more laid back simple look which I like alot, you could wear this to the office and then out for dinner or just for relaxed drinks and dressed up with simple court heels if you are the sort for high heels.

But with flats you can dance around, like this:

So hopefully this little yellow skirt will be making its outing very soon. Leave me a comment below telling me which look you like best or how you would wear your lemon pleated skirt.

ASOS Alexander Wang Style Flats

Browsing the ASOS.com site after being drawn into another tempting sale offer I decided it was time I expanded my flat shoe collection past trainers.

I had already heard about a pair of black flats being a dupe for a pair of Alexander Wang flats and I love Alexander Wang but not the price tag so I thought I would check it out.

These ASOS Ladybug flat leather-look pointed flats with ankle straps are very similiar to the Alexander Wang Esther Flats.

black flats

As well as being similair to the Esther flats these ASOS flats are super comfy and elegant and will look great with jeans or a dress. I like that the toe is tapers off to the side and shows a little toe clevage – sexy! I also love that they have ankle straps as I have a major issue with keeping flat shoes on my skinny feet and as I no longer really wear heels (tall enough already without the foot torture) these flats will be perfect for a night out or will look smart for workwear.

The Alexander Esther Flats below – retailed at approz £305/$495 but are sadly sold out. a wang flatsI also picked up these sort of cut out brogue-esque black flats from ASOS which are very similair to the Alexander Wang Tabea Crisscross Flats which are also sold out. Shame.

aw flats awang flats

I liked these ASOS Madhouse pointed flats, even though they are sort of ugly but I like sort of ugly shoes – I have a thing for them. I find that ugly shoes stop a pretty outfit looking too girly or make a jeans look more interesting and I thought these were better than normal ballet pumps. My sister called them ‘Grandma’ shoes and my husband agreed but I care not. However they are too big for my shallow flat feet so I will have to send them back .

Below are the Alexander Tabea Crisscross Flats which retailed around £277/$450

a wangyHowever I already have my eyes on these ASOS Memory flats – another pair of beautiful ugly shoes that I cant wait to wear with black jeans for a utilitarian look or with a t-shirt or skater dress for summer. I cant wait!

Topshop Spring Basics

topshop tee

When it comes to my staple wardrobes items jeans and a t-shirt make the top of  the list, closely followed by a clean simple jumper. I’m not a girly girl so I practically live in jeans and a t-shirt or when its still cool weather, like it is now –  a nice fine knit jumper.

I’m a little obsessed with finding the ‘perfect’ white t-shirt. In my eyes there are a few boxes it has to tick. The material has to be either a soft cotton or a fine jersey so the material drapes and hangs nicely and the sleeves have to be the right length and create the right overall shape. The neck line should be flattering – I am still looking for the perfect round neck that isn’t too high or too low – but this Topshop tee (above) is a pretty good v-neck – low enough to be flattering but not revealing. I am pretty pleased with this white v-neck and you can be surprised how good a decent white t-shirt can look.

When it comes to jeans I prefer to buy from Topshop rather than any other high street retailer. For my height (I’m 5’9) they fit me perfectly and have a range of leg lengths, although I prefer my jeans to neatly end at my ankles so I choose a 32 inch leg and a 28 inch waist.

These are the Leigh style jeans which are a soft skinny leg jeans. The leopard loafers are also Topshop but from a little while ago.

And finally I really love this Topshop grey jumper. It’s a slouchy knit that drapes perfectly and has been my go to item for the cooler spring days.

Unfortunately it looks like the weather is about to get colder again in London so it looks like I’ve just bought this just in the knit of time.

Current Obsession : Nike Air Max Trainers

Blue sporty spring

I’ve always been a trainer girl and recently I have become obsessed with Nike Air Max trainers. I think because its spring my feet want out of the boots I have been clomping about in all winter but they aren’t quite ready for ballet pumps or loafers so trainers are my happy medium.

I haven’t had a chance to take a pic of how I have been wearing my Air Max Trainers, but I bought the exact pair that are shown above and Ive been throwing them on with literally everything Ive been wearing.

But I think nothing better goes with trainers than a crisp white tee and a pair of blue jeans, add a statement necklace like the Zara one above to tie in the colour of the trainers and a slick of lipstick to finish the look.

I desperately want to buy another pair of trainers but I am trying to be a good girl. So here are my top four trainer buys for Spring:

How I wear Pink – Spring 2014

Pretty pastel pink was all over the catwalks for Spring 2014 from Burberry to Isabel Marant, and if you haven’t noticed already pink is all set to flirt its way into our spring summer wardrobes.

But pink doesn’t have to be pretty. I personally love the colour pink but I’m also a bit of a tomboy so I find it hard to wear the colour without feeling silly.

I’ve decided to toughen up pink so not to look too ‘girly’ and put a sporty twist on spring’s prettiest colour.

IMG_3597

Nike men’s sweatshirt, Topshop jeans, H&M men’s shirt, Ash Bowie wedges, jade bangle and Michael Kors watch

I’ve chosen a vintage pink Nike sweatshirt, which is actually from the men’s department, as its not your typical pink jumper and paired it with a crisp white shirt underneath to make it look a little bit preppy.  The jeans from Topshop are the perfect wash to couple with pink and I’ve continued the sporty vibe by choosing Ash’s Bowie wedge trainers in metallic silver (another spring trend).

IMG_3517

Pink on Pink on Pink. This might be too much pink for some but spring in London is all about layers and the Zara jacket adds structure and the Paul Costelloe mini bag is the final pink injection and brings it all together. Mixing different shades of pink also adds a different dimension to the look without looking too bubblegum.

See pink can be fun to wear even if you aren’t the typical ‘girly girl’.
